Little Hill of Refuge is a tribute in story, song, and poetry to the brave Irish pioneers who settled San Patrico County, founded the town of Refugio, signed the Texas Declaration of Independence and fought at Goliad, the Alamo, and San Jacinto.

Fleeing from the rebellion of 1798 in their native land, they brought their revolutionary vigor and heartfelt songs with them: Boolavogue, Kelly the Boy from Killane, Johnny We Hardly Knew Ye and others. Destined to become the first ranchers and educators in the Republic, they led colorful and heroic lives.
